An interactive experience that combines the real world and computer-generated content overlaying digitally-created content into the user's real-world environment. The content can span multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory and olfactory.

A simulated experience that creates a digital environment that replaces the user's real-world.  It employs pose tracking and 3D near-eye displays to give the user an immersive feel of a virtual world. Applications of virtual reality include entertainment, education and business.

Mixed reality that incorporates haptics has sometimes been referred to as Visuo-haptic mixed reality.

Also known as surround video, or immersive videos or spherical videos, are video recordings that offer a new perspective by allowing users to look every direction in a virtual scene. Videos provide a view in every direction by recording a scene from multiple views at the same time, shot using an omnidirectional camera or a collection of cameras.

Describes the perception of being surrounded by – and being a part of – a different environment than your normal day to day providing a multisensory, digital experience delivered and facilitated with technology like Virtual Reality goggles or a physical environment like a theme park attraction with multi-media components.
